Dusk to Dawn

Dusk to Dawn Dusk to Dawn

Welcome

My name is Mark, the founder of Dusk to Dawn. The reason for myself opening this charity is that I am sick and tired of other homeless charities doing a lot of talking but not much action.

A bit about myself. World travelled, seen it all, including close to war zones and poverty worldwide. For the last 7 years off my own back I have been housing homeless helping with claims filling out 100’s of forms and doing Civil and Tribunal court cases as I self-taught myself these 2 laws.

My main focus for the initial period of this charity is to find and house every ex-military person sleeping rough. To support them with their medical needs. To clear their debts and get them back into the way of living they should be doing, and not sleeping rough. After we have accomplished this, we will concentrate on the 5,000+ homeless in the UK.

A lot of charities look good, sound good but to me, it is just words. I don’t see much action. I see the main issue surrounding homelessness is health and debt. We 100% will sort both of these issues, not with words or advice but by getting the medical help they need and clear all debts so each individual can have a fresh start.

My passion for this is so strong that you will see a huge impact we will make. And unlike other charities, I personally will be doing sleep outs in winter and be on the road helping and NOT sitting in a warm office behind a desk being overpaid.

Dusk to Dawn – a charity for homeless veterans

We are a dedicated group of ordinary people who have come together because we have a passion for helping others and our aim is to set up a charity to not only support homeless veterans in this country but to establish a centre where we can provide accommodation, mental and financial support to help veterans who find themselves on the streets to get their lives back on track, find new skills and to be able to support themselves and move onto new lives in the community. We know there are a lot of charities that help ex-military veterans but we aim to be different by helping them to have the chance for a restart in finding a job and re-establishing themselves in the community.

We are reaching out to firstly establish support by means of donations to this worthwhile cause whilst we are in the process of setting up the charity. We are currently in negotiations where we may be able to take over an existing charity which has property assets which would be suitable for our vision, but we need the promise of funding to support our application to take this charity over.

Would you be able to support our cause with initially a promise of a donation as this would help us to achieve our aim, which could happen quite quickly once we have the confirmation of the charity number. We will then be able to set up a ‘Just Giving’ page and will start some publicity/events to support this worthy cause.

My name is Gerry Barker I am 75yrs old and I was homeless living in a car. I had known Mark for many years and asked him could he assist me as I was getting nowhere.

He responded within 10 minutes and asked me to drive to his house where he fed me did my laundry and put me up in a tent in his garden for 1 night.

The following morning, he took me to the council and after 1 hour got me into temporary accommodation and 5 weeks later via Flagship homes a self-contained flat and organised a grant within 7 days to kit it out with furniture.

Without his help I would still be living in my car. Only 2 words can describe him. USEFUL & PRICELESS.

My name is Laura Bunting and I had an accident at work nearly 8 years ago where I got trapped between security gates in very high winds.

At the time I was struggling with my back then sepsis set in and I was in a coma for 4 weeks then woke up to fibromyalgia unable to walk but desperately wanted to go back to the job I loved.

I had a credit card which I relied on as I had no income for 6 months. I was in a crippling amount of debt which was affecting my mental health.

Then I met Mark Gordon….

I had been sleeping on a sofa for 7 years as I was unable to lay flat. I applied numerous times for a hospital bed over the years something which was only a dream that I wanted.

Mark took control. Within 2 weeks I had my hospital bed and within 8 weeks he arranged a solicitor to phone me and I did a debt relief order and now I am debt free.

Since I have known Mark he has helped numerous amounts of people. Mark struggles himself but likes to keep busy and would put anyone first before his problems.

Dusk to dawn will assist initially the ex-military not with advice but house them clear their debts and sort out medical assistance should they need it.

The initial aim is to find and assist all veterans then once this is achieved then concentrate on the rest of the homeless.

In 2015 I had a reoccurring brain injury and for 18 months I had neurology appointments every week basically to learn from scratch but this could have been a good thing that happened as it turned out I had a photographic memory. My GP at the time said I should use this situation. Charities offered me voluntary work but I detest those CEO’s on silly wages so I did it alone.

The 1st person who asked me help was a civil case about a car. Knowing nothing about civil law I went to the library and for around 3 months studied civil law with this new addition to me the photographic memory I could learn 6 times faster than the average person, I took this case on as McKenzie Friend and won it. The claimant won £4,600.

The next one I did was unfair dismissal a Polish man. Back to the library to study tribunal law. The case lasted 5 days. Following the Judges instructions to get more evidence we won on 17 out of 18 counts. In compensation he received £27,000.

The 3rd one was complicated. A lady in New Jersey USA contacted me via Facebook to see if I could help her find free medical care due to having no insurance. She needed desperately a hysterectomy of the womb. I rang the local hospital to her numerous times about charity care they ignored me every time, I then contacted a charity in brick who advised me to contact the Dole or equivalent version what we have but over there in New York. They paid for a train ticket so she could make a claim for sickness benefit whilst I sat at home thinking about what to do next, so I rang the WHITE HOUSE switchboard and asked them to put me through to an AMBASSADOR OF NEW JERSEY in the American Congress in DC. He spoke to me I explained the situation with the charity care and the hospital ignoring me, and sent one of his agents to the woman I was helping and another to the hospital where the charity care was granted she got her operation and life guarantee of charity care for her and her son.

I have done many others including stopping evictions getting people housed took on the NHS and my results at the moment are 23 cases done, 23 cases won including 3 settled out of court. I have done this all free off my own back.

Once we get the charity number everyone nationwide will see that my charity actually does something. We will house once found every ex-serviceman/women. We won’t offer them debt advice we will clear it. Once all are housed we will start at the oldest homeless and work down.

Once we get to our £5,000 target then you will see change everywhere.
